Petrolern LLC, an Atlanta-based technology company, received funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to develop and commercialize an advanced machine learning-aided rock physics model (CarbonWatchTM) for end-to-end monitoring of CO2 storage sites. This new technology will significantly push the boundaries of the current state-of-the-art in rock physics modeling of carbon storage reservoirs and enables real-time monitoring of CO2 plume migration and early prediction of possible leaks from the sequestration formation.
